Eden West is a collaborative pianist and music educator based in Southeast Michigan. She holds degrees in Piano Performance and Music Education from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where she studied with Logan Skelton and Ana María Otamendi. During her undergraduate studies, she was recognized as a nine-term James B. Angell Scholar and was awarded both the 2024–25 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award and the Virginia Allison Collaborative Award.
Training outside of her schooling include the Lehrer Vocal Institute at Music Academy of the West (2025), the Collaborative Piano Institute (2024, 2025), and SongFest (2023).
At the University of Michigan, West works as a pianist for the voice department. Her responsibilities include accompanying voice lessons, recitals, departmental performances, chorus classes, and masterclasses. She also frequently collaborates with strings, woodwinds, and brass instrumentalists. Her work has included accompanying dance classes and rehearsals for the MPulse Dance Institute, the Michigan Youth Dance Festival, and productions with the Young People’s Theater. She has also served as a choral pianist for the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale, Northside Community Church, and the Ann Arbor Women's Chamber Chorus. Most recently, she worked as a répétiteur for "The Bohemians," the English adaptation of Puccini's "La Bohème" with No Fly Productions in Ann Arbor.
West was selected for two consecutive years to participate in the Michigan Recording Project, an initiative focused on the performance and recording of music by underrepresented composers. She was featured both as a soloist and a collaborator in this project. Her competition experience includes winning the White Lake Solo Competition and being a finalist in the Michigan Youth Arts Concerto Competition. She has also been featured on Interlochen Public Radio.
In addition to her piano work, West is also a classically trained violinist. She has performed with the Pioneer Symphony Orchestra and the University of Michigan Campus Orchestra. Her experience as an educator includes completing her student-teaching internship at Huron High School with Timothy Krohn and Clague Middle School with Abigail Alwin, teaching orchestra students grades 6-12 and conducting multiple ensembles in rehearsal and performance. She also served two terms as President of the University of Michigan’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), where she coordinated events and workshops for pre-service music educators.
West continues to work throughout Michigan as a collaborative pianist, regularly partnering with singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and educators in both academic and community settings.
