About me, recent work.
Eden West is a collaborative pianist currently based in New York City. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at The Juilliard School as a Kovner Fellow. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan, West holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Piano Performance and Music Education. Her training was guided by Logan Skelton and Ana MarĂa Otamendi, and her academic record earned her the distinction of being a nine-term James B. Angell Scholar and the recipient of the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award.
West has begun to build a professional portfolio in both vocal and instrumental areas. She recently served as a rehearsal pianist and coach for two seasons at the Opera Company of Middlebury. During her time at the University of Michigan, she served as a staff pianist, where she music directed opera workshop scenes and collaborated with both students and faculty for recitals, juries, and masterclasses. West also works as a freelance pianist in the Ann Arbor area. Recent work has included playing for the Washtenaw Women's Chamber Chorus, Ann Arbor Youth Chorale, and the Northside Community Church. She also has experience playing for dance classes through the Michigan Youth Dance Festival and the MPulse Performing Arts Dance Institute.
Beyond her work at the piano, West is a certified K-12 music teacher. She served two terms as President of the University of Michigan’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education and completed her teaching internship at Clague Middle School and Huron High School in Ann Arbor, MI. West has also worked as the coordinator of chamber music for summer orchestra camps. West studied the violin for twelve years and the euphonium for two.
